Bouye (Baobab Fruit Juice or Bouye Juice) is a traditional African drink that is excellent for your health. This African drink is made with the pulp of the baobab fruit (Bouye). You can also use powdered bouye to make this recipe.

You can make baobab juice with milk or water. I personally prefer the version with water because the delicious flavor of the baobab fruit comes out better.

Below you will find the recipe for powdered bouye juice or using baobab fruit pulp!

Recipe with Bouye powder

Place your 250g of bouye powder in a salad bowl. Add your liter of water while stirring to avoid lumps. Pass your mixture of water and bouye powder through a sieve to obtain a smooth texture. Add sugar to your liking, personally I use about 100g of sugar for 250g of Bouye powder. You can also add one or two drops of orange blossom for more flavor. Mix well and keep refrigerated for 1 hour before serving your homemade Baobab juice!

Recipe with Bouye pulp

Soak your baobab fruit in boiling water for about 1 hour. Crush your baobab fruit at home until the flesh detaches from the fruit. Using a strainer, squeeze the bouye juice from the pulp into a salad bowl. Add sugar to taste, and a few drops of orange blossom water if desired. Mix well and refrigerate your bouye juice for about 1 hour before serving.
